Kate De Lorme is a Sound Designer and Audio Engineer based in Vancouver, Canada. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatrical Production and Design from the University of British Columbia, with a focus in sound design. Before moving to Vancouver in 2012, Kate completed her Audio Engineering and Music Production Certification at Okanagan College in Kelowna, Canada. Kate has been working in sound design since the age of 16, with her first experiences in community theatre. She has been a professional Sound Designer since 2012, most recently working primarily in contemporary dance and theatre. Kate’s designs are inclusive of high caliber recording and editing, composition, live programming and mixing.

Kate’s body of work explores multi-channel environments and their ability to create an immersive experience for the audience.

On the summer of 2018, at the Spatial Sound Institute Budapest she developed Sta/g-mos, a piece that explored a powerful inside sound-experience which guided the listener on a journey  throughout the body. Sounds that resonate within each of the energetic cores lead us to re-think this bond between vibration-body-mind. Kate’s work at the Spatial Sound Institute was co-funded by the Canada Council for the Arts and the BC Arts Council.
