Benedikt Brachtel

From his ground control in Untergiesing, Munich, Beni Brachtel carries a lot of different projects into the world, all aiming for the same credo: style over stylistics. Most of his productions balance the voltage ratio between hypnotic, percussion driven groove and the obsessive workout on deep harmony and abstract soundscapes, which can be found under his own alias Bartellow, where he dropped his debut album Panokorama in Spring 2017, as Tambien (with Marvin&Valentino from Pubic Possession) or Pollyester (where he is a longtime band member playing the synths). The puissance of recontextualising emotional content reflects also the Munich/London-based label SVS Records he runs with Daniel Hermann-Collini.

Parallel to his academic career Brachtel developed a devotion for electronic music. While studying jazz guitar and jazz composition at the Anton Bruckner University in Linz and HMT Leipzig he spent much time in the studio and on stage. His music brought him to recently to Tokyo, Osaka, St.Petersburg, Bucharest, Budapest, Paris, New York, Mexico City, Ahmedabad (India), where he created an audio-installation at Le Corbusier's ATMA Building. He also works as a music producer, composes Operas and theatre music for institutions like Bayerische Staatsoper, creates audio performances with 4DSOUND and plays an analog liveset at the Robert Johnson or DJs at Club Datcha, Montreal.

He is also represented on many recordings, writes music for various theater productions e.g. at Maxim Gorki Theater, Berlin, Münchener Kammerspiele, the Staatstheater Karlsruhe or the Vorarlberger Landestheater Bregenz where his Semi-Opera “Bluthochzeit” premiered in January 2015. Amongst other people, he worked with directors like Ersan Mondtag, Jessica Glause and Marie Bues.
