József Iszlai
József Iszlai is a musician and sound designer residing in Budapest, Hungary. His interest lies in the possibilities of electro-acoustic compositions, plunderphonics, and sampling. After his film studies in Cluj Napoca, Romania, he worked in mixed media installations, film music, animation, and theater productions. As a musician, he contributed to acclaimed projects in Cannes, installations and sculptures in Taiwan, Spain, Germany, Portugal, led numerous workshops, and started researching the phenomenology of 20th sonic warfare.
As the alumnus of the i-Portunus grant proposed by the European Commission of 2021, he became a stable collaborator of the Orangerie Theater of Cologne, continues research within the framework of the Prague Institute of Philosophy, and is a contributing composer to projects and installations showcased in several countries around the world.
